Quilt ladder

Since we moved two years ago in June, the quilts that are displayed around the house and those not on a bed have lived in the closet in the spare bedroom.  They really took up too much space in there and I hated not seeing them.  So my sweet husband Tom, built me a quilt ladder.  I really like the angle he used to make it. Doesn't it look like an old ladder.  I just love having my quilts out on display!!!!

  1. :) Mike has made me two of these but they are in the workshop right now waiting for finishing until we get back from out trip - he ran out of time and didn't get them done they need a little sanding and finish work.

    1. They are great to hold our lovely quilts. You probably need a few more as prolific as you are in quilt making.

    1. I know you enjoy a handy man around the house too! The best part is we salvedged the wood out of bulky pickup. I hate to see good items go to the dump.

  3. My husband made me a quilt ladder several years ago but not angled like yours. What a great idea.

    1. I think they are even better that we have the memory of their hands making it for us! I happened to see one on pinterest when I was trying to explain what a quilt ladder is and I think he liked the additional challenge.

I'm looking at a blank spot on my wall that could use one of these. Hmmmm....

    1. Oh they really are not hard to do and there are alot of ideas on Pinterest and you tube. It's much better than a blank wall and makes our quilts accessible when we have movie night!

  5. Your hubby did a great job and I love how your quilts look on your ladder! I think the hardest part of displaying them is choosing which ones to use and the best way to fold the quilts to show them off. I'm thinking I need a second ladder!

  6. I wish my husband had some woodworking skills! I do have a few quilt racks given to me as gifts where I display some quilts but I do like the ladder idea. Hmmm...there may be an old wooden one out in the barn!

  7. I tried to get hubby to grab an old apple pickers ladder that was free in some one's yard a few years ago for this purpose but he did not have vision at that time of the beauty of showing off ones quilts. Now he is a quilter he may just appreciate such an addition to our home. An apple picker's ladder is shaped similarly, but not as delicate as the one your dear husband made. Beautiful!

    1. Ah that is interesting! I was wondering why they would bother with the angle or if it had a purpose. I know everytime I go into an antique store I wish I had bought years ago. And those free finds along the way would be worth the stop. That's so interesting that your husband has picked up the hobby. I think mine would enjoy it but he would never admit it. Ha Ha Thanks for stopping by

  8. Love the quilt ladder. The quilts are pretty terrific too. I don't blame you for wanting to have them out where you could see them.
