Signs of Spring

I don't know about you, but I am ready for  some spring weather. I guess I shouldn't complain but I always  start to get cabin fever this time of year.

So, I decided to go out and take a few pictures  of signs of life.   It is amazing  what you can find if you just look!

God has kept his promise, and spring is not far away.

Turning the corner

I have been stitching all afternoon.  My hope was  that I finish one side of the border per week.  I didn't quite accomplish my goal today.  I have the feathers and cable done on the second side but only about one half of the crosshatching. I still have a few hours to stitch this evening, but first I am heading over to Kathy's Quilts to see what others are slow stitching.

Treasures

Yesterday, I decided to stop by an antique store in my area.  I used to pass it daily when I was working, but never stopped to shop it's treasures.  I love looking, and it is very rare that I purchase anything, as I try to live a simple life.  But, I was needing a thimble  to use when I appliqued and then I spied this little box.  It was just the right size to keep my thimbles and my other quilting tools.  I brought it home and rubbed it with some orange oil and then some paste wax.
Today, as I was quilting, I began to wonder who had put all the work into making this box.  The wonderful dove tail joints and lid that slides open make it so special.  I like to think that maybe someone's husband made it for her to store her treasures. Treasures, yes my treasures are some simple quilting tools, it doesn't get any better than that!

Amish Ice Cream Social

I know it has been a few weeks since I have posted any updates, but I had some technical difficulties. A laptop with a dead video card is pretty useless.
I have been busy stitching and came up for a name for my Scrappy String Star quilt. Thanks to those that posted your ideas, they really helped, her new name is Amish Ice Cream Social.

I am happy to say that I have made some great progress. All of the stitching in the ditch on the nine stars is completed and I have started stitching the motif and crosshatching on the border. Today, I will continue to stitch and take a few breaks to see what others are slow stitching on Kathy's blog,
