Close to the complete!

Well, the end is nearing.  I have enough stars pieced to finish up this quilt.  I hope to get the last 8 stars attached today. I am linking up with Kathy's Quilts and the others that are slow stitching today.  It's inspiring to see that so many enjoy slowing down and enjoying the simple process of stitching. If you have never tried it, you should really give it a go.

I have started the last two rows this am after my morning coffee. I have the quilt laid out so I can see where the next piece needs to be attached. Once the two rows are complete then I will attach it to the quilt.  A final measurement will then be taken.  This is a crib size quilt so it should finish after trimming around 45X60.

    1. This is hand pieced, paper piecing and my hands don't get along. Someone told me to try paper instead of the card stock I was using. Maybe someday I will

    1. I think hand piecing this pattern is just as fast as trying to do it by machine. I am happy I finally tried it with my trip around the world It opened a whole new world for me.

    1. Thank Karen. I am putting this one away for my first great grandchild. None in the near future but one never knows I do have a couple of grandchildren that are about to finish college.

  6. Such a fun quilt! Great job... and thank you for showing the hand pieced trip around the world quilt along..... that got me hooked on hand stitching. These stars are so fun. I think I 'might' try an apple core with curves next.... tumblers need finishing first though!

I see Pat Sloan is doing a hand pieced apple core. I have a basket of little scraps that you have inspired for me to try hand piecing some mini tumblers maybe for a table topper.

  7. I started and never finished a couple of quilts I wanted to hand piece but never quite got the hang of it - probably because my homemade templates were a little wonky. I'm glad you showed your stitching so I can see how a pro does it! I just love your stars. Seems you knocked those out quickly. I had to smile when I saw you, too, have a "hope chest". It never hurts to plan ahead.

  8. I am really liking your star blocks. So tempting to start one of my own but I have to stay on focus and work on some of my projects already in the works.

    1. Yes temptation is a problem for all of us! I am thinking about adding some basket blocks as the final border on my hourglass medallion quilt cause when I see basket quilts they tempt me.
