It's a Quilt

It's  been a very busy week.   I  still found some time to add a few stitches into my on going projects.  I finished binding My Trailing Vines quilt and the motifs on the outside pink strips were not making me smile.  Last night, I made the decision to go ahead and trapunto them so that they would be more defined.  I use a method that uses a darning needle and yarn.  It's not difficult, and I find it really isn't too time consuming.  The photos below show the results I was able to achieve.

The after photo

I finished one strip Friday night and the other Saturday morning!  I am pleased with the results, and now I can say My Trailing Vines is completely finished.

I wanted to take it outside to get some better photos and may do that later this week.  We were just too busy Saturday.

February's stitches have been completed for The Linen and Threads SAL. I am loving this project more and more!

March patterns have been released for Cheddarback and the Linen and Threads SAL.  But I think this week I will continue on Santa #3 .  I am really enjoying getting back into crossstitch.   Below is my progress!

    1. Thanks it was a quilt I always admired when I would see it in books. So it's lovely that I can curl up under it if I want. I agree about the SAL quite a few who link up are working on it and it's so much fun to see the variety.

  15. Such an amazing finish! The trapunto is fabulous! I wish I could have watched over your shoulder while you did it - I'd love to be able to add a little trapunto to my hand quilting. The cable quilting is marvelous as well.

    1. Tim Latimer did this video a few years ago and I tried it from watching this. The hard part is knowing you are going to have holes in your fabric from pulling the yarn thru. I use a blunt needle so the threads seperate instead of it piercing them. But once the quilt is washed all those holes disappear. https://timquilts.wordpress.com/2013/03/26/trapunto-video/

  16. That wa a good decision to add the trapunto. It makes the sides shine. I did not realize that the original quilt is at the Henry Ford Museum which is approx 60 miles from my home. I shall have to make a day trip over there with spouse or friend. Your cross stitch is looking good!

When you get the time, do take outdoor shots of them please, would love to see it. Wow, the cross-stich looks awesome too, do share your progress story, looking forward to know more about your styles!

    1. I will try to do that. The weather has been so uncooperative, or time isn't there when it is. Hopefully when the grass greens up I can take it out for some final shots. Thanks for stopping by.

  20. My God! That is some stunning piece of embroidery you've done! It is so intricate! I've never heard of Trapunto. Do you mind telling me how it's done? I'd like to share it with a friend, she knows a thing or two about embroidery.
