Red block progress

Red wonky block is assembled and hanging with the other wonky stars made in the previous months.  I think it is another winner!

Then of course I started cutting the red and black and white scraps to make my pickle dish blocks.  I am including some pics of the block being assembled.  They look complicated but really aren't hard if you keep yourself organized and make sure you don't rush sewing the curve.

    1. Oh it really isn't that bad. I prefer pins as if I just use a stiletto I tend to stretch everything too much. Needle down on the machine and slowing down makes for a lovely block.

  3. You are certainly the perfect ambassador for the pickle dish block. You almost had me convinced until I saw all those pins. I just love watching the progress on your quilts.

    1. I always wondered how they were made before I bought the book with the pattern in it. I think some do them differently but this way works well for me.

    1. Thanks Karen! I really am enjoying making three a month. Too much piecing and I get lazy and they start looking bad, but I can handle three a month.

  9. someone just said the other day that they attended a class on curves and the teacher showed using glue instead of pins - I hadn't tried that have you? Love both sets of blocks

    1. I have seen a video on that, but me and glue don't get along. I don't even use it for applique. I guess it is all in what you get used to. I learned to pin curves from garment making days and I guess it is hard to teach an old dog a new trick

    1. Really they are not hard, a bit time consuming. I have a hard time with matching points and sewing a straight line, so these are my solution, less stressful!
