I feel pretty good about this week. I made all my cheddarback blocks although they were a bit demanding. You can see them on my last blog post. It's so nice when you have had years of learning to help you succeed. I think quite often we don't realize the knowledge we have under our belts. I also found a little time to start my 1984 Santa. I posted last Sunday about how I had purchased this crossstitch chart back in the early 80's, but I didn't realize till a comment from that post pointed out that's almost a 40 year old pattern. So, I did the math and yes 1984 was 36 years ago. Wow! I still love the pattern and am excited about my 12 Santa journey this year! I watched some videos on crossstitching as I pretty much only know what I learned from doing a little kit many years ago. I found some great videos done by
Jan Hicks that are fun to listen to while I stitch and very informative. Here's what I have accomplished thus far.

Hopefully it will be completed by the end of January! |
I like your pattern - I have patterns in my box that I have never used and I have no idea how old they are - I wonder if anyone would want them and then I think of postage prices LOL
ReplyDeleteYeah shipping is getting ridiculous. I am glad to finally put my foot down and start stitching these do I can enjoy them
DeleteSanta is timeless, regardless of when you bought the pattern :). This is going to be lovely.
ReplyDeleteI agree he is timeless and I think that's what has drawn me to these patterns
DeleteI love this Santa. You are doing a wonderful job on it. I have many items from the 80's. Wow, it certainly doesn't seem all that long ago.
ReplyDeleteOh I agree seems like yesterday!
DeleteI think your Santa is going to be delightful! I haven't cross-stitched since about 1984 either, so I'm glad to hear there are videos to watch if I want to give it a try again!
ReplyDeleteYeah isn't it wonderful that so much info is on the internet! I am really enjoying this simple Santa. I dont think I'll ever do some of the intricate cross stitch kitsch I have seen.
DeleteDoesn't time fly when you are having fun. =) Your Santa is going to be lovely, I just know it. I think we all save patterns we love for just the perfect moment to pick them up and stitch them. Have a beautiful week enjoying a little cross stitch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! Yes some patterns are timeless and never too old to stitch!
DeleteWow, your stitching on the border looks so perfect! I love new patterns! I've just started getting back into cross stitch! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I too have just started back into crossstitch although I haven't done much in the past. Too busy I guess back then. It's a nice break and this is my year not to get involved in a large quilt project but to enjoy some small projects. So far, so good!
DeleteI have always been attracted to the Prairie Schooler Santas though I never cross stitched any of them. I have two of the charts tucked away.
