I made great strides this week in the sewing room. I finished quilting stars, stars and more stars. Once the quilting is completed I can't wait to make binding and to stitch it down.. Finishes are so wonderful! I am pleased with this quilt and can now say I can machine stitch y seams with the best. I sometimes wonder why I keep starting a new quilt and have come to the conclusion it's learning something new that intriques me! There are endless techniques and patterns which makes it such a wonderful craft.

I love that quilt - I do not machine stitch Y seams often and always find it a bit of a bother - I know I need practice - making quilts for this long and I still need practice!
ReplyDeleteI learn something or sometimes several things with each quilt I make. I must say I am feeling so much better about piecing. I think learning to hand piece made me understand and gave me a good base to grow from.
DeleteBeautiful quilt! So lovely. Enjoy the feeling of satisfaction of the finish. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gretchen! Slow stitching makes for less finishes but they are worth the wait if you ask me!
DeleteYour Stars quilt is fabulous. My goodness you are brilliant with your Y seams, aren't you. I always find them a bit tricky. Your hand quilting on this quilt is wonderful. A most beautiful finish!
ReplyDeleteThanks. They really are not to bad if you are careful. I watch Laundry Basket Quilts video on them which helped a lot.
DeleteCongrats on the finish! Gosh, it's gorgeous, beautiful and awesome! I have made several quilts with Y seams and I always dread thinking about doing them but when I get right down to business and pay attention to what I'm doing I always find they aren't that bad at all. Looking forward to your next one!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I do my mark my seam lines, something I stole from hand piecing. It really helps to make sure I am staying on track. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteGreat job! Another pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb my finishes don't arrive very often so it makes even more special.
DeleteCarla .. this finish is sooo fabulous!!! I too start new projects to try new things :) I am hoping to finish some of those many starts this year though. I hope you gave Stars, stars and more stars a good snuggle last night after that great photo op :) Kathi
ReplyDeleteYes, I did wrap in her while I watched a couple movies before she became the feature quilt on my stone wall. Looking forward to seeing your star quilt debut.
DeleteI love your quilt! You did a beautiful job on both the piecing and the quilting. Enjoy your wonderful finish!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I ususally shy away from yellow but I did love working with this tone!
DeleteYou do such lovely work. Congrats on a lovely finish! Looks very nice hanging over the stone wall. How big is it?
ReplyDeleteYes I love my stone wall to hang quilts. It about 78x68 which I call a good sofa quilt.
DeleteA beautiful finish .... now to enjoy it even more!
ReplyDeleteYeah I love hanging my quilts around the house and I know you do too! They are such a joy!
DeleteFantastic finish! It is gorgeous! And, good for you for doing all those Y seams!
ReplyDeleteThey really aren't too bad. I used some tricks from hand piecing like marking my seams which really helped me visually.
