Time to relax!

Today, I will starting the second border of Baltimore Garden.  I must say, I am very pleased that I was able to finish up the top border on Friday.  Saturday I spent some time prepping for the bottom border.  I like the idea of prepping more, but I worried about how to keep the pieces safe while they wait to be stitched.  Then it dawned on me, I have a small 36x36 inch design wall that I use when laying out blocks to be pieced, why not keep my little pieces there. It is easy to separate each flower and I can see when I need to start doing more prep.  Seeing all of those pieces just makes me want to sit and stitch.  I must say, prep work is a bit like hiking up a mountain, but it is so worth it cause once you get there, the view is spectacular.  Kathy's post today talks about multitasking and feeling guilty! We all do that, but we also all need to take some time and really enjoy the view. That is my plan for a few hours today anyway!

I snapped a photo of the borders laid out side by side.  What a view!  I really like the difference!  I hope you can take some time today to really enjoy some slow stitching too!  Get into the zone and enjoy the view!

    1. I think we all do! But it is good to stop and smell the roses. We are very luck to live in areas that are more laid back and we have beautiful natural surroundings that we can stop and enjoy!

  4. Your flower additions are beautiful or should I say the view is spectacular. Those pieces look so small. I even loose big pieces when I'm sewing. And I agree about the prep work for anything.

    1. Yeah they are pretty small, but they have given me lots of practice and I don't feel so intimidated by them now. I often think about how frustrated I would get when I first learned needle turn!

  12. Thanks for stopping by! Quilt as you go does make it easier to machine quilt a large quilt. I usually put hand quilting on the floor frame but this way I can work on it while watching tv at night with hubby. And the person it is for would see it on the floor frame. This way it is easier to hide when he comes over.

    1. Those are great reasons to try this. I feel so warn out when I machine quilt but this smaller scale sure would make it so much easier.

    1. I often think about the original maker of this quilt. Amazing that she was able to design and make this quilt so many years ago!

    1. Thanks Kathy! It has been a long journey and still a long way to go as I hope to quilt it like the original. It is turning in to a once in a lifetime quilt for sure, but I am so enjoying it!

  17. Oh - I need to grab extra batting and stick my pieces to it! Thanks for the idea.Your border flowers are really making those swags shine. I try to enjoy the view every day - today it was driving the kids to school with the low fog in the distance over the trees with some pretty purples and pinks in the sky highlighting the clouds. A very pretty sight. I was hitting the sunrise before the time change. Now that was spectacular every morning.

    1. Florida does have some beautiful sunrises! We don't get to enjoy much of either here too many trees! I get a sneak peak once in a while. The batting works great, hope it helps you keep track of those pieces.
