This and That!

Well, I hope everyone remembered to set their clocks forward! We can all thank Benjamin Franklin for daylight savings time. Thankfully, I only want to accomplish a few slow stitches today.  I just need to applique the center circle on cogwheel block #2.

I also have a little bit of applique on block # 14 of Baltimore Garden to finish, then I can make some ruched flowers.  I need a total of eight for this block, so I need seven more.
The little ruched flowers are so much easier to make than the layered flowers in the pattern.  I am all about keeping it fun and enjoyable! Hope your enjoying some slow stitching today.

    1. They really aren't too hard. There are some great tutorials on line. I don't mark the zig zag stitiches lines I just eyeball my running stitch. I got some great advice not to add them before the quilt the quilt is quilted.

    1. Thanks Deb, They add a bit of dimension and are so much more fun than the little round petals that are very frustrating.

    1. Each cog wheel takes a bit to make so I only go for one a week, but I think they will make a great scrappy quilt.

It would be fun to make flowers in the cold wintery weather!

    1. It is starting to warm here, so this afternoon if the sun comes out think I will sit out on the patio and stitch my ruched flowers. A few daffodils are showing color here and the rose bushes are just starting to show some tips of new growth.......................spring has to be around the corner.

  5. I really enjoy seeing your hand work both in process and done... LOVE that rusching.. is it hard? I like the idea of adding it later too! Love that cogwheel you did a marvelous job piecing it and your applique seems to be coming right along too! Glad you are good at multi tasking... I am trying to learn to add some variety to my daily hand quilting :) Kathi

    1. Kathi, the ruching is quite simple. Just a matter of doing a zig zag running stitch on folded piece of fabric or ribbon. Then gathering it up and tacking them into a flower. I used to be a one project person, but I do like the variety now that I have learned to applique.

    1. Me too! Even though Baltimore Garden is slow going with all the leaves and flowers in each block, I am really enjoying working on each block. I keep reminding myself to enjoy each block and someday it will all come together.

I remembered to set my alarm clock ahead and turned the rest of the clocks ahead when we got home from the swim meet.
