I decided this week to work on my Wonky Star block for RSC2014. I knew it would be a hectic week, since my husband had knee surgery Monday. We are also dealing with a sick dog. Although, I didn't finish my block I got it laid out and started to assemble. I had to dig deep in my pile of scraps to find enough teals, but I was able to come up with enough. I love all the shades of teal, they remind me of a trip to the Carribbean. Maybe that is my brain just trying to cope with everything this week. I do know the importance of some "me" time, so I will find a bit of time this afternoon to slip away to my sewing island and enjoy the teals and finish up my block. I will also be linking up to RSC2014 to see what others are doing with their teal scraps.
Your wonky star is coming along nicely. Enjoy some time for yourself this weekend and get that star done. I hope your husband will be back on his feet soon; knee operations are no fun and nor is the recuperation period.
ReplyDeleteI so agree. I worry about him falling so I try to keep an eye on him. I know it will get better, but it will take some time.
DeleteI always love shades of teal - hope the hubby's knee well heal just fine -
ReplyDeleteI hope so too, Six weeks of healing than physical therapy to get walking again.
DeleteWonky stars are one of my favorite blocks. Yours is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, I am using a lot of little scraps in these blocks, So good to get them out of the stash.
DeleteAlways good to take some breaks for you time. The teal is a great color for thinking of the ocean and walks on the beach. Hope the recovery is going well for your DH. Sorry to hear about your dog being sick. Hopefully everyone in both our households will be well next week.
ReplyDeleteI spent several hours in the sewing room with the Quilt show on the lap top. So I felt like I was on a quilting cruise with Alex Anderson and Ricki Timms! LOL Got my wonky star done and a pickle dish block. I was having so much fun I even chained pieced a whole string of 1.5 squares.
DeleteVery pretty wonky star. Teals are so restful, I wonder why many of us don't have much of that color in our stash?
ReplyDeleteHope Your Guy and your puppy are both feeling better.
Thanks Kate! I am worried that my schnauzer is experiencing some heart problems. Back to the vet on Thursday. In the mean time I get to pamper my husband, he deserves it!
DeleteVery pretty. You deserve a trip to the caribbean - let's go !! Hope your husband and puppy are all feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alycia! It would be fun to go on a quilting cruise, wouldn't it?
DeleteLove those star blocks. Beautiful in teal. Hope hubby is well soon. Knee surgery sounds rough. Bless his heart.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila, Yes I feel for husband. Six weeks on crutches, no fun!
DeleteLove the scrappy star block. Just working with the teals is a pleasant retreat.
ReplyDeleteI did have fun this afternoon for a few hours. I love the teal, it really did calm me down.
DeleteEnjoy the day on your quilty island!!
ReplyDeleteI spent several hours with the Quilt Show episodes playing. It was fun cruising with Alex and Ricki!
DeleteHope every one feels better soon. Great wonky star!
ReplyDeleteThanks Billie Bee! So glad I have my quilting to turn to.
DeleteGood for you to realize how important "me" time is. Your husband will certainly require a lot of time over the next couple of months but grabbing that me time will have it's rewards multiple times over. I hope your dog is on the mend. Ours was diagnosed with bone cancer yesterday. Still in a bit of shock.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your dogs cancer. I think our Max is suffering from a heart condition. More tests this next week. So hard to see them ill, we get so attached to them.
DeleteGorgeous wonky star! Glad you were able to get in some "me time" ... a little respite from caring for your hubby and your pup was just what you needed, I'm sure. Praying that both your hubby and your dog will be back to normal soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! Sweet of you to send prayers our way, they are much appreciated!
DeleteEveryone I know who has had knee surgery lately is glad they had it done and wished they had done it sooner. Hope your DH feels the same way soon.
ReplyDeleteThe Wonky Stars look like a good use of scraps. Hope you got some more sewing time in. It's such a good stress reliever.
I agree I am sure his knee will be fine, recovery time is pretty long for this procedure, but he is doing really well. He has always been one that can't sit still, but I think he is enjoying this a bit, anyway I hope so. I agree Wonky Stars is great for using scraps. I am hoping it will turn into a great rainbow quilt for my granddaughter when it is complete.
Deletelovely colours, and a very nice pattern
