Progress on Baltimore Garden

I thought I would share some photos of the different steps in making one of the layered flowers in Baltimore Garden.  My hat goes off to Barbara Burnham for the wonderful illustrations and directions she included in the book Baltimore Garden.

Since I have had a couple of requests I have included the blocks that I have finished so far.  Five out of twenty five, completed! I must say, I am really enjoying stitching these blocks.  As always, I am learning a lot as I go.

  1. Beautiful blocks. I like the block in the second picture the best. Looks to me like you are using a soap sliver for marking your pieces. Interesting.

    1. Thank you! I was using a Fons and Porter ceramic white pencil, but it rubs off a little to quickly for me, so now I am using a soap sliver over a piece of sand paper. Works for me!

  3. Beautiful work on the applique....lovely. I too love hand work. I love your "big stitch" quilting also....and I don't believe it is just for utility...lots of expensive quilts have larger quilt stitching! Congrats!
