I thought I would share some photos of the different steps in making one of the layered flowers in Baltimore Garden. My hat goes off to Barbara Burnham for the wonderful illustrations and directions she included in the book Baltimore Garden.
Since I have had a couple of requests I have included the blocks that I have finished so far. Five out of twenty five, completed! I must say, I am really enjoying stitching these blocks. As always, I am learning a lot as I go.
Beautiful blocks. I like the block in the second picture the best. Looks to me like you are using a soap sliver for marking your pieces. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was using a Fons and Porter ceramic white pencil, but it rubs off a little to quickly for me, so now I am using a soap sliver over a piece of sand paper. Works for me!
DeleteLooking good, Carla!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annette!
DeleteThey are very pretty! Lots of little stitches went into that applique. It looks like a fun project!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginney! I love doing hand work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work on the applique....lovely. I too love hand work. I love your "big stitch" quilting also....and I don't believe it is just for utility...lots of expensive quilts have larger quilt stitching! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, I have a feeling there will be more big stitched quilts in my future. Thanks for you kind words on my applique blocks, I'm really enjoying stitching them.
Deletelove your blocks. they are gorgeous. loved seeing how you put the flowers together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrie, I should get pretty good at them since there are quite a few in the quilt.
