It's been a hectic week here. The new floors will arrive Monday and take most of the week to install. We are replacing three rooms of carpeting with a wood plank look tile. We looked at laminates and the new vinyl that all are beautiful but we didn't want to have a transition strip between the tiled kitchen floor and the other rooms. So we opted for the tile wood look planks. I always am a bit nervous about decisions like this between the time we choose and the time it gets installed. Second guessing can drive you a bit crazy. Better to keep my mind off of it and take a deep breath and enjoy some stitching. I finished up the fall stitchery and the Linen and Threads SAL for October so I decided to start the spring stitchery. I know I skipped the winter but I need to dye or order some aida before I can start that one.
I also spent some time adding interfacing and trimming up my Santas so they can be stitched and stuffed! I need to pick up more interfacing for the back pieces before the assembling begins and that may not be till next week as the flooring people will have invaded. I really like seeing them all together and trimmed up! The different shades of tea/coffee dyed aida and being stitched on a couple different aida cts make me happy too! Variety is the spice of life as they say!
A fly... Hmmm. If you really don't like the fly you could turn it into a bee or butterfly. The new floors sound nice. I think we all second guess our decisions. I hope the install goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteSecond day and progress is being made on the floors. I'm thinking he may turn into a bee hadn't thought about a butterfly thanks for the suggestion
DeleteLove those Santas! Will they be hung on your Christmas tree? Best wishes for your visit with the surgeon, and help for your back pain!
ReplyDeleteWe don't put up a large tree so they may be a basket display or hang ftom some garland
DeleteHow are you going to display all your cross stitch Santas?
ReplyDeleteI'm hope to use them several ways maybe hanging from a garland or in a basket with some greenery. We use a ceramic tree but maybe a new skinny tree is on the future. Have you started any crossstitch?
DeleteThe Santa collection is just wonderful! Variety is the spice of life!
ReplyDeleteI like the fly... I think of "fly in the ointment" which is what Covid is all about (ruining everything!)
Enjoy your stitching and I hope your back feels better soon!
I agree there is something about him that says why not Time will tell!
DeleteAll your stitching is lovely I love those santa's. I'm sure that your floors will look lovely I think we always worry in case we have made the wrong choice. Good luck with the orthopedic surgeon, hopefully physiotherapy will be all that is needed to help with the pain. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping PT will be all that is needed but if not we will take it one day at a time
DeleteCould it be a honey bee?
ReplyDeleteThat was a thought I had they had a honey bee in a previous SAL that might just work
DeleteGreat projects, and beautiful stitching! Love your Santas!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karrin! Now to get them assembled hopefully I'll have the house back by Friday right now it's a total shambles with the tile setters working hard
Deletelove the Santa collection and that red stitchery! wow. good luck with your back and the floor - I hate those strips that go between the rooms with the different kinds of flooring - I have them and you have to about lift the vacuum cleaner over them as it won't roll smoothly
ReplyDeleteThanks! Karen I know I am gonna love the no transition strips and for the first time we decided to do all the rooms and hallways at the same time. We did want to keep carpet in the bedrooms and it's still in good condition.
DeleteYes, it's best not to worry until you see the specialist; though it is always not to, isn't it. Gosh, your Santas are beautiful. So much beautiful stitching has gone into these. How exciting your SAL will soon be finished. Slow hand stitching has helped us all face this year. All you ladies who have participated in this have stitched beautifully. All the best when you see the orthopedic surgeon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, yes what a year but we are all getting thru it. As you said we just need to face each day and make the best of it
DeleteI love your slow stitching progress... I bet you will avoid the fly in the end but i will wait and see...lol! I am sorry about your pinched nerve roots ... I hope the orthopedic has some non surgical options to offer you and it may be medication or a nerve block procedure or something in office for now :) I will keep you in my thoughts though friend! I love your spring stitchery... it will look nice when spring arrives ... good luck finding the color cloth you want for the winter stitchery. I am mega excited you are getting new flooring and chose the tile.. I bet you will be pleased :D Kathi
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathi. I'm hoping they have a solution that works whatever it is. Tile is being installed, it's a big relief to see it going in as I really am very pleased how it is looking. Good luck with your closing and house hunting!
DeleteYou have some lovely projects, the Santa is so pretty. I wish you the best of luck seeing the orthopedic surgeon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb, I'm trying to wait to hear what he has to say before worrying about it.
DeleteThose Santas look fantastic! The fly is an interesting element to add to the SAL...
ReplyDeleteSpring will be done in plenty of time!
Now to get those Santas finished! I agree about the fly!
DeleteI know most don't like flies but I do love the little hoverfly that is a honeybee lookalike...hope your floors turned out well. You will love the wood-look tile!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by and yes I think the fly needs to be stitched
