Two finishes this week!

Well, with summer in full swing here in North Texas we are spending more time inside.  Covid is on a huge upswing here, another reason to stay close to home.  I am so happy that our govenor finally bit the bullet and ordered that masks are required in public places.    So I was able to get some great stitching time in this week.  First, I finished Santa number #8! He's quite jolly so there were a lot of stitches to make.  I had to count the finished Santa's to make sure he was number 8, so I laid them out on one of my quilt ladders.  I am really liking the variety and have found six more charts so I need to get them ordered!

Then on Wednesday the July motifs were released for the Linen and Threads SAL 2020.  It included a bird that I think is so cute so I couldn't wait to start stitching it.  I finished up yesterday afternoon so it is gonna be a long month waiting for the next release!

So hopefully today, I will be able to start Santa #9.  I also have a few embroideries I want to start so there will be plenty of stitches to do as we go thru July.

  2. I don't think our governor will ever enforce mask - he is leaving it up to the individual towns and no enforcement - because "this is Arkansas and Arkansas thinks of its neighbors" or some crap like that - the people here seem to think only of their comfort and if they don't think they need to wear masks to protect others they won't - I don't know why politicians always think their state is the best and always think of others! When I go into wal-mart and see only half the people wearing masks it bothers me and other places in town too - or people not wearing them right and have their nose exposed. So I continue to quickly do my shopping and go home and not much else.
    your santa looks great

    1. Well our govenor didn't want to do it but the cases are skyrocketing here since we reopened. I don't get it either how people can be so selfish! They don't seem to understand the goal of the mask is to prevent asymptomatic people from spreading the virus to others. Texans are alot like Arkansans! But we have several large cities where the spread is getting out of control. Dallas County had 1000 new cases per day for several days! The sheriff in our county said he isn't going to enforce it! Why did he have to make a public announcement is beyond me, and I would think defying the law should be grounds for termination!

  3. I love those Santas. Here in California you are required to wear masks in stores etc which I never stopped doing anyway. Our cases are skyrocketing in my county. We have 20 cases in the hospital right now, 4 in the ICU, more than we have ever had!

    1. We had some store requiring them I would see people go in without! UGH I heard two texas counties were at capacity as far as hospital beds for covid. But since the law went into affect many more are wearing them, so I will hang onto the hope that it will help get things under control. I love these Santas too, I definitely will be order the other six santas I found.

  4. I'm sorry you have a rise in covid cases in your state. It is a worry. Your santas are adorable and seeing them together is great. I can't remember if you said how you plan to display them all? I like julys bird in the linen and thread challenge. I've been stitching mine today too!

    1. I plan on making little pillow type ornaments that I can display in a basket or on a tree. I agree that bird was a nice little surprise and fun to stitch!

  5. I clicked on your photo of the Santas on the ladder just so I could see them better (old eyes, ya know). They are quite cute...I think my favorite is the patriotic Santa.
Our governor (Washington state) requires masks in public. I am an essential worker, so I have been working and wearing a mask all through this COVID nightmare. Even though masks are required, I would say that half the customers come in without them. We even have signs posted, but they are ignored. The company tells us not to turn them away, either.

    1. It's a difficult situation and I hope more will start to understand we are all in this together and what we do does affect others.

  6. Good for your gov. I'd rather our state do something similar vs closing businesses. No 8 Santa came out great. All of them make a nice display on a quilt ladder.

    1. Yes I agree we have to try and keep things going, just need to be careful and follow the CDC's recommendations but I think that's the hard part not eveyone believes it's as serious as it is! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Santa #8 is very cute! I like the big pack he's carrying and the way it's stitched to overlap the border! We've had a mask mandate for this whole time, but, unfortunately, not everyone follows it. My husband and I just feel safer wearing one!

    1. Me too! They are saying air borne tranmission may be happening so I hope more people take heed. I am so thankful I started my Santa journey to keep me happy as all there seems to be is bad news these days!

  10. All your Santa Clauses are so great! Also the little bird is super cute!
In Norway where I live, many businesses, congregations were closed, even churches and schools were closed for months to prevent the spread of Covid 19. All people must be good at hand hygiene and keep away from each other. We were not allowed to visit each other, and hospitals and nursing homes were closed to visitors. We are lucky and have had few deaths, and now we are on our way to living normally again, but with still good hand hygiene and still need to keep some distance to each other. In Norway, we were encouraged not to wear masks. One of the reasons was probably that there were few face masks and most importantly it was enough for health professionals and seriously ill people.
    Be careful!

    1. We did the same in the beginning but when we reopened people did not continue the safe practices. Now they are saying it can linger in the air so airborne transmission is a problem so masks are required. I will be so glad when someone develops a vaccine! Stay safe!
