In the Pink!

February kind of crept up on me.  I guess I was focused on finishing Stars and Stripes.  Anyway, Monday I went to the scrap bin and found some black and white and pink fabrics for my pickle dish blocks and my wonky star block.
I wasn't a bit surprised not to find much. It is just not a go to color for me.

But hopefully I can squeeze out my four blocks,  I definitely want to use some of the toile that was trimmed off the backing of my pyramid quilt.  It should look great next to a pink, don't you think?

These blocks are really starting to grow on me. I love the polka dots that I am using for the centers and the neutral background really lets the color in each block shine. I am already looking forward to the end of the year when I will have 36 blocks.  Arranging them in their final layout will be a lot of fun!

  1. nice blocks - I have found I am very low on some colors as I have been organizing my scraps - I do have a bit of pink though as I had gotten a large fat quarter pack some time back that had a lot in it

    1. Thanks Karen, I guess I am just not a pink person. I have more green than anything and of course I can never say no to red fabric.

    1. It is definitely not a quilt that I would have planned, but I am really falling in love with it. Joining the scrap challenge has been good for me.

    1. Yeah, I agree Deb! I was really worried when I pulled out all my brights from my stash and joined the challenge. With the addition of Vicki's hand dyed fabrics, this quilt is teaching me a lot. Sometimes a girl just has to have fun!

    1. Thanks Kate! It will be so much fun to add blocks as each month comes along! I am one who gets bored with making the same block over and over but only having to do 3 a month is working out great.

    1. Being mostly a traditional quilter, I needed some kind of control. I think they worked out great and have always loved polka dots. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Time will tell, but it is fun to work with some bright fabrics, quite different than what I usually do.
