Winter is still in full session! Hopefully the groundhog will bring us some good news. I really can't complain, as we are only getting rain out of this last storm, and we really can use the rain. I feel for all you that are surrounded by snow, I know scooping those driveways must get old.
Today I am going to enjoy some hand quilting on my Floribunda quilt. This is a quilt that Bonnie Hunter saw in an antique shop, made with a block called Jacob's Ladder. It perked my interest because it was a great solution to use up the floral fabric in my stash., The original quilt was paired with a solid yellow, since mine was a stash buster, I paired mine with a solid green that I had on hand.
So today, while most will be watching to see what Punxsutawney Phil will predict, or maybe watch the Superbowl. I will be slow stitching and ending my evening with an episode of Downton Abbey. As usual I will be linking up with Kathy to see what others who choose to stitch will be doing today.

I will be at a Super Bowl party, and while a part of me would rather stay home and quilt, I know I'll enjoy time spent with friends ... and overindulging in some great food! ha! I can't wait to see more of your Floribunda ... it's looking great so far!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun, Kathy! I'm sure we will be at least checking the score, as my daughter lives near Seattle.
Deletewe are supposed to get rain, sleet, ice and snow here in my section of Arkansas - I do hope it is mainly snow though as I really don't want any ice this time around!!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I agree about snow versus ice. Northerners often make fun of southerners and the inability to drive in a inch or two of snow, but they don't realize the amount of black ice that we endure. Looks like six more weeks of winter, I know I will be looking forward to spring and hope we don't have to endure another drought this summer. This is great hand quilting weather, however.
DeleteI don't have cable so I was quite excited to get my email from Amazon yesterday saying that my pre-ordered Downton Abbey was shipping! Can't wait! :)
ReplyDeleteI can understand your excitement! I know I look forward to each new epissode. I am also excited about the return of Sherlock to Masterpiece Mystery.
DeleteI will be slow stitching with you and what a pretty quilt you are working on now after such a patriotic finish you just enjoyed! Thanks for posting what is in your hoop! Kathi
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathi, This is a small lap quilt, so it shouldn't take very long. It was a stash buster, but I am delighted with it.
DeleteLove the floral fabrics. A pleasure to hand quilt. I like the center green quilting lines. Curves work nicely squares. I don't know why. Maybe it's a ying yang thing. I'll end Groundhog Day also by watching Downton Abbey.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Jill! I love Sundays, nothing better than some hand quilting and Downton Abbey.
DeleteI like the floral fabrics with the green. Florabunda quilt is going to be precious. I'll be looking forward to see it done. Happy Sunday and great week.hugs
ReplyDeleteIvani, I too like the way it worked out! Sometimes just letting go and using what you have is better than fretting and planning. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteBeautiful quilt Carla! One of my favorite blocks too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Mary! I agree this is a fun block to piece.
DeleteSounds like perfect plan for a perfect day to me Carla! I'll be doing much the same thing :*D Unfortunately Phil did not have good news for us, and I just learned that we may have ice and snow tonight - wow! I'm SO ready for this winter to be over!
ReplyDeleteWe have had rain all day! Sure hope there will be no ice for you or me. I am not a big fan of it. I agree it has been a long winter!
DeleteI have always wanted to do Floribunda since Bonnie Hunter came up with it. I love your green. I am still going to try that pattern. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun block to piece!
DeleteI love your quilt and your hand quilting as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Billie Bee!
DeleteGood for you stash busting!
ReplyDeleteMy stash buster quilts are some of my favorites!
DeleteLove your quilting design on this block... very creative! Hope you enjoyed your slow stitching while watching Downton...thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI didn't make it around to all the SSS posts from last week so catching up now. Your post reminds me that I have a Floribunda UFO around here somewhere that needs more blocks. I think your layout looks different. I like it with the green.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I didn't have yellow in my stash, so I thought I would use what I have. I am really liking the way it is turning out. So glad to get those florals out of my stash!
