Where do I start?

I was hoping to have my pyramid quilt finished by today and was looking forward to using my new binding clips while sewing down the binding.  But, things don't always work out like we want.   The weather was so gorgeous yesterday, I just had to go out and enjoy it.  I only have three more cables to hand quilt as you can see in the picture, but my spool of perle cotton is almost gone, not sure I will make it.  Time will tell. But the good thing is, there is always more slow stitching projects to work on.

As you can see I have made a bit of progress on my hexies.  I even did a layout drawing for the center medallion, not sure what will happen beyond this but for now I just need to keep making flowers.  Then I can work on assembling the center medallion.
I also have the last block of my pumpkin seed to assemble.  I assembled the four pumpkin seeds I made from scraps this week.  They are ready to applique to the background that has been pre-washed, although you can see I need to do some pressing.  So I  am  linking up again with Kathy's Slow Stitching Sundays to get some inspiration  to get my projects moving along!

    1. I decided to just let this quilt build itself. Kind of a round robin, only with one maker.

    1. The pumpkin seed project is my favorite. I have a thing for scrappy and applique, the best of both worlds. I love to paper piece shapes and applique them onto solid backgrounds and then insanely quilt them. I am calling this one "Simple but Not"

  9. The best part of piecing hexies I find, is the thread pulling through the fabric and paper. I LOVE basting hexies. Look forward to seeing your medallion

    1. I agree Carla there is something about pulling the needle thru the fabric. I need to cut out some more black connectors so the assembling can begin.

    1. Well, I finished the hand quilting on the quilt, now to trim and bind. Worked on my hexies last night seven flowers made. Need to decide and mark my next quilt and get my pumpkin seeds pinned the background so I can slow stitch some applique pieces. I agree a lot of stitches ahead of me.

    1. I guess I love finishes. When I get close to finishing it motivates me. The hexies are a long term project but the first quilt will finish this week and the pumpkin seeds need to become a top ready to quilt this fall.

    1. I finished my thousand pyramid and love the way the cables turned out on the black fabric. I have a post with some great pics if you want to to check them out http://budsgram.blogspot.com/2014/01/gotta-love-those-finishes.html. It will inspire you to use them. I used perle cotton on the quilt size 16 and really like how it turned out. Bigger needle and bigger stitches, utility quilting works great on those kinds of quilts.
