Slow Slow Stitching

Thought I would update you on my hexie quilt today.  If you have ever worked with hexies you know it involves slow slow stitching.  I did make progress this week, in that I started to assemble my medallion block.

This evening, the plans are to add a few more black background hexies to a few more flowers, so that they will be ready to attach. My goal is attaching four more flowers, not sure that will happen but I like to work towards a goal.

This morning, while the sun is shining bright I am marking some blocks on my Quilt of Valor so that I can get it closer to going into the hoop.

    1. I will check it out! These are not for a grandmother's flower garden. It is a medallion quilt that is being designed as I go, so I am not really sure where it is heading. It's like doing a mystery quilt but I have the final say so. Thanks for stopping by Denise.

  3. Haven't done a hexie project yet but I see appliqued hexie flowers on a border in my future :) I usually enjoy the process of quilt marking but this block I am working on now has me dreading the quilting... but it will be beautiful when I learn the pattern... just requires lots of concentration! lol Anyway, thanks for sharing with us what you are up to! Have a blessed Sunday Kathi

    1. I will be looking forward to your appliqued hexies. A great way to try them out, but I must warn you that they are a bit addictive. You have me curious as to what you are hand quitling looking forward to seeing that too!

  4. No not yet, but ideas are always welcome! This is what I can best describe as a mystery self round robin quilt. No idea where it is going, when or why. It might be a little crazy, maybe I should name it Masterpiece Mystery! Can you tell I am looking forward to Masterpiece Mystery tonight when Sherlock comes back to life. LOL

    1. I had some yardage of black and I like black so that is what I used. I can't wait to have this frame for the medallion block finished. It is going to be bigger than I had in my mind, so I am not sure how it will look till it is fully assembled. Then beyond that, I have no thought, I am hoping once I figure out what I will do in the applique block in the center that I will have an idea which way to go. That is what I am hoping for anyway!

  11. I'm really enjoying seeing your progress on your hexi project!

I originally intended my hexies to be a travel project, but I confess that there are times when I just don't feel like wrestling my quilt in the hoop ... it's nice to have something quick and easy so I can continue to work with my needle and thread. ;-)

    1. Thanks Kathy! I baste while I travel but to sew them together, I prefer to be at home. My hands are tired tonight, stitched all afternoon off and on. I am out of the background hexies to go any further, so this project will wait till I get some more basted. Tomorrow will bring marking and pin basting the next quilt to go into the hoop. I will be using my new Barnett hoop for the first time so that is exciting.
