Binding Clips

Santa was very good to me this year.  I have had the Clover binding clips on my wish list for quite some time.  I love hand stitching down binding, but as I would advance the quilt on my lap, I often would get a finger or thigh poked by the straight pins that I would use.  At one point I tried the hair clips but found that my binding would get a bit a wavy using them.   I really am not the type of person that needs every new gadget that comes out, but these clips did catch my eye.

Aren't they cute!  I love the thought that was putting into designing these little clips. Do you see how the red part is rounded to allow the fullness to be on front of the quilt.

They do a great job holding the binding in place on the back no distortion it lays nice and flat
That little curve makes all the difference allowing that fullness on the front!  I also have found they work great holding my hexies together as I stitch them.  As I have gotten older, that pinching that happens to hold the two pieces together can make my hand hurt, now I let the clip do the job and they are small enough that my hand has no problem supporting the work.  I have no affiliation with Clover, and am not a notions junky, but I do love these clips.

  1. I have looked at these clips but find they are a bit pricey and have good luck with the hair clips. I should put these on my wish list for presents and someone might buy them for me :)

  2. I bit the bullet and bought some last year, and it was one of the wisest investments in quilting supplies that I've made ... I hated binding because of all the pokes from the pins! Problem solved with these clips. I need to get some out when I'm working on my hexies ... I hadn't thought of using them for my hexies! Thanks for the tip!

    1. Glad that you agree Kathy! They really help my hands. No need to apply any pressure I let the clip do the work. Maybe I could try some hand piecing again with these clips. That pinching really bothers my hands anymore.

  3. Carla - thanks for the feedback on this little clips. I have seen them on quilts on other blogs but wondered if they were just a new take on the same old thing. Thank you! I will check these out and pick some up.. I got a gift card for Christmas! Beats getting stuck all the time!!!

    1. I don't like getting poked either. I figure if it is a tool you will use on every practically every quilt you make, so they are well worth it!

    1. Kathy, I agree if it's tool you are going to use often, then it is well worth it. But, these are my favorite kinds of Christmas gifts, not terribly expensive but something you might not want to spend your money on, cause you can get by or make do with out. I know I will use them on every quilt I make, and will think about my daughter when I do use them.

  6. That is why I did the review. I don't like trying every gadget that is presented on the market, but if it really works and is something I would use a lot I am willing to try it. I am glad that I did with these.

  7. I know I would love those, I think I have to wait for a sale to get some though. I didn't realise they had that curve in them, thanks for reviewing them.

    1. I agree they are a bit pricey! But like most notions once the novelty is over they will become cheaper. They are something I could without, but I do like how they hold the binding and I don't missed getting pricked by pins.
