March brings Two Finishes

I finally have a sunny day to take pictures of my two finishes for March.  It has been unusually cool and very very wet so it has been so hard to get pictures with the rain and cloudy days.  First, I finished my RSC2014 Pickle dish quilt.  I had so much fun paper piecing these blocks last year. Adding the polka dot binding really finished  it off nicely!

Then I was able to squeeze in making this chevron quilt for my daughter in law's birthday in May. It was made from a line of fabric from Moda called Red,White & Free by Sandy Gervais.  One layer cake added to a solid white and a 72X72 inch quilt is born.

So today, I will be linking up to Julie's blog for Blinding Blitz to share my finishes and see the other finishes for this month.

    1. It just happened that last years stitching is finally coming together. I guess I need to start looking for the fabric to finish my strip pieced blocks. Oh and I have a basket full of 1 and 1/2 inch squares that I need to do something with.

    1. Thanks Barb! I usually don't make the same pattern twice, but another pickle dish would be fun. Just love that pattern and never thought I would make one. Paper piecing makes all things possible and fun!

  9. Both are beautiful quilts. Your DIL is going to love hers. Do you have special plans for the Pickle Dish quilt? It's ok to keep a quilt for yourself if you are.

    1. The pickle dish is going to be our picnic quilt. I think of my quilts as my children so it is hard to let them go. When you gift them to family you still get visitation rights!

    1. I have been wanting to make one for years. Mine is paper pieced so it was really fun to do. No oatmeal quilts for me I love high contrast and am always drawn to the graphic element. I love the modern quilts as much as I love simple tradtional patterns.

  14. Thanks for sharing your finished Pickle Dish! I enjoyed watching it grow during last year's RSC and it is definitely an inspiration for others (like me!) to try this challenging block. Your DIL's quilt is so fun and cheerful - especially the dots on the back!
