Orange Wonky Star

I was able to almost get my orange wonky star done.  Three more seams this am and it will be complete.  I was out of town part of last week and this week visiting family. We spent part of one day going thru things at my mom's house and I found a bit of fabric with some orange in it.  I just had to add it to this block. I think this fabric is from the sixties, but I am not really sure.

It makes me happy that this quilt will have a bit of great grandma's fabric in it since my granddaughter Aria will be it's recipient.

I also think the black background of the fabric will add a bit sparkle to the quilt! Sometimes the unexpected is just what we need!

    1. Oh I so agree! As soon as I saw it I knew what I would do with it. It was only big enough to make the two squares. So glad that she kept that small scrap, it came in very handy this week.

    1. We were going thru some of my mom's things as she is now in a home. So many memories that simple things like fabric and pictures bring back. I was the lucky recipient of her wooden sewing box, I am flying on cloud nine right now.

  4. The wonky star is fabulous, and what a great piece of fabric to add to it. You'll have to make sure you tell the story of the fabrics to your grand daughter.

  8. I have noticed over time that I never have much of orange in my stash. Not sure why I just never have much of it. Your blocks are looking great.
