Pulling out the Greens!

I thought I would get a jump start on this months RSC.  I guess it wasn't meant to be.  I did head to the supply closet to pull out some fabrics.  I even got my paper pieces printed off and than realized I have misplaced the polka dot melon centers that I precut at the beginning of the year.  I have been using them as the center for my pickle dish blocks.

I have been taking care of some projects around the house so it has been over a week since I have been in the sewing room.  So I guess Monday morning I need to take some time to straighten and put away and see if I can find them. I am sure they will show up and there is plenty of time to get my blocks made.  If your scraps are getting out of hand, or you want to bust thru some of your stash you really need to head over to RSC2014.  It's never too late to start and there is so much inspiration if your not sure what to do with your scraps.

  1. Sounds like me! I had plans to make the bento block and start some crossroads to lighten the green stash yesterday.... alas - the purples are still piled on the floor and the greens are in the scrap bin and closet still. Maybe later tonight or Sunday I get to start playing. Enjoy your weekend.

    1. I spent too much time outside today but the weather has been so gorgeous. Hopefully I can settle down and get some applique done tomorrow.

  2. Good luck on finding those melon centers! If you were my age, I'd suggest looking somewhere else (as I've been known to find kitchen utensils in my bathroom vanity drawers). ha!

  3. Though it isn't glamorous, cleaning usually helps the missing bits turn up. Still plenty of time in May to get a head start on all those greens!

    1. Yes cleaning up an necessary evil, but I alway get more done when I stay organized, but sometimes when working on several projects, things go flying every which way.

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one who misplaces things! Projects around the house? I've been trying to get out to the garden on my days off but it is either too cold or too rainy. I'm hoping to get out today to finish weeding strawberry patch. Your pickledish blocks inspired me to start one for a wedding quilt for the other granddaughter.

    1. You have some very lucky granddaughters! My strawberries are just starting to turn and it's been so wet I hope they don't rot. We are suppose to have a sunny week so that should help. I have been spending too much time in the garden and not enough time stitching. Hope that changes tomorrow.

  6. I save my greens for leaves and stems when I want a variety of fabric in a project....which is most of the time. I visited the Scrap Happy blog....had forgotten about it. A good idea.

    1. I am using RSC to rid my stash of some brights that I would pick up here and there. Some of the fat quarters have been in my stash well over five years. It is fun working with one color each month, but the control freak in me had to pair up the brights with black and white and some gray. LOL

    1. Isn't that how it always happens. Thankfully I still have some of that polka dot fabric left.

  9. Nice that you have been getting some decent weather to garden. We are still having very cool temps and rain every day - the trees are still bare.

You know that the melons will show up as soon as you cut more!

  10. I have a feeling that will be the case, but I am going to at least do a bit of a search first. I work better when things are as they should be.
