Three Purple Pickledish Blocks!

I was able to finish assembling my three pickledish blocks for April's RSC14.  Each month after I take my picture for the blog I place the blocks in a box.  The second month I pulled out the first months and placed them on the floor to see how they looked together.  Last month, I decided to resist the temptation, and wait till all the blocks are finished at the end of the year.  Sometimes I wish I had a design wall to put my blocks on each month as I finish them, but in this case I am looking forward to the mystery.

So far I like the black and white fabrics with each color. With the gray neutral background they should all play together nicely, but it will be so much fun to lay them out once they are all done. I just hope I can stick to my guns and wait.  How about you, do you keep your blocks on a design wall, do you lay them out each time a new color is added, or do you wait for the surprise?

  1. I do a little of both - sometimes I get a lot done before I look and other times I keep track as I do them.

  2. All of the above! Sometimes I don't lay anything out until I have all the blocks completed. Some blocks I rehang every month, and occasionally, if I have the space, I leave the blocks up until they are all done!

  3. I don't have a design wall, so I usually wait until all the blocks are done to lay them out.

  4. Your Pickledish blocks look fantastic!
Sometimes I put my blocks up on the wall together once I finish another color, but sometimes I wait a few months. I generally don't leave them up on the wall for long.

  5. I do both. Your blocks are so pretty that I don't think I could resist the temptation of putting them all together on wall and admiring them - constantly!!

  6. I think I'm more excited to see your pickle dish layout than my own!

  7. You have so much will power!! I would not be able to wait to see these together. I don't know which would be more fun, the surprise at the end, or getting jazzed by seeing them develop. I have made many a portable design wall, once pinning a wool blanket to the wall to use for a big quilt. A queen size cotton batting works too. A flannel backed tablecloth but you need a design wall even if you take it down every night. LeeAnna Paylor
