It's a Pink Morning

I am sure that most of you have heard the old saying "Pink in the Morning Sailor's Warning  Pink at Night Sailors Delight! Well, when  I looked out this am this is what I saw:

Yes and the weatherman is predicting rain for tomorrow. So my afternoon won't be filled with slow stitches like usual on Sunday, but my husband and I will head to the back yard to shred up the rest of our fall leaves and use them to mulch the landscaping beds.  It will do wonders for the shrubs and really help them to make it thru the very hot summers we have.

But since slow stitching with the gang of quilters that link each Sunday with Kathy's Slow Stitching Sundays has become such a habit, I will find sometime this evening to put a few stitches in my hexie project.  I was able to get another section almost ready to attach.  This will be side four.  Working on this project has been a bit like doing a puzzle.  I sure hope the last two sides will link up correctly, I think I will be fine as long as I follow my map closely.

I guess I really need to start thinking seriously with what I should do in the center of this project and what will come after that.  Any ideas?

  1. Hope it is just rain not freezing rain ...we are hearing it could be a mix but who knows. Predicting exactly what is going to happen seems to be a lost art this winter : )

You have alot of these hexies going on...so pretty!:)

    1. You are so right about this winter. Our predicted temps are way above freezing so I have a feeling we will get a lot of rain. I just came in from outside, it was so gorgeous out, sunny and 60, felt so good to have the sunshine on my face.

    1. So true anything can happen this time of year. I do remember picking asparagus last February, Pretty sure that won't happen this year.

  3. So pretty. I think I am going to put black around all my little flowers. I have no clue what they will end up as though - I have no real plan for them. Will you just put all black in the middle or add a rainbow around? It will be fun to see what you decide to do. Enjoy your slow stitching today. I need to go out and get some yard work done today too - maybe plant a few seeds into the ground with the kids.

    1. I am thinking an applique center and maybe some applique around the outside. Nothingt se in stone yet. Once I get this part done I may have to just look at it for awhile, before I decide.

  6. Beautiful! How about a big bunch of bright butterflies for the center?
I use leaves for mulch too and cover the gardens with lawn mower shredded leaves in the fall. We still have lots of snow on the ground now so it will be a while until I can get out to the garden to do some clean up. I also use all the fabric scraps that are too small to use as mulch too! It makes for a colorful garden.

    1. Sounds like you love to garden. We have so many oak leaves, so why not put them to work. They sure do wonders for the soil. I hadn't thought about small bits of fabric.. We really need to mulch heavily here to conserve moisture in the summer and keep the soil a little cooler in our 100 plus days. I like the idea of some butterflies, I also thought about some birds. Thanks.
