I hope to finish the center medallion on my red and green quilt today. I
don't have much more to do as you can see from the photo, but it always
seems to take longer than I hope. I do find if I focus on the stitches
and let my mind wander, that I always seem to accomplish more than I
hope. My favorite thing to do is listen to music or podcasts while I
stitch. I also quilt in front of the television, but my husband will
attest to the fact that I am paying more attention to my quilting.
My favorite time to quilt is early in the morning, after a cup of coffee. What is your favorite time to stitch? As always I also find time to join Kathy and Slow Stitching Sunday. So inspirational to take the time to see what others are slow stitching.
I like the idea of quilting first thing in the morning but life with two littles seems to get in the way. I do love that I can use my waiting in the car time stitching and relaxing a bit in between the busyness of life.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful - I love the cross hatching in the background. Just lovely.
Deb, a great way to make good use of your time. I didn't find much time for stitching when my children were younger and I was working, but I am making up for that now.
DeleteLovely quilting on a beautiful quilt Carla! Love the brilliant colors on the white background! Handwork for me is usually at night... and like you, the TV is on, but I'm paying more attention to the stitching than the show!
ReplyDeleteThat is why I am thankful for the dvr, Sometimes I have to go back and watch something again, when I am paying attention. LOL Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteGorgeous, gorgeous quilt. I'd be afraid to use it with all that work!
ReplyDeleteI work 10 hour days so like to stitch a little each evening to unwind.
Thanks Cathy! This one probably won't go on a bed or be used as a lap quilt. It will probably end up on a quilt ladder and be more decorative, but quilts that are heavily quilted are quite durable.
DeleteLove your quilt! Wonderful for you to be so close to finishing. I almost always hand quilt late at night as the house is winding down. Very good time of day for me.:)
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful to hear that many are hand quilting again. It is such a part of my life, I can't imagine not doing some kind of stitching. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteYour quilt is so gorgeous! My favorite time to quilt would be in the morning, but I rarely can do that because I am at work. Most of my quilting time happens in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteJulie, when I was working I didn't do a lot of sewing. I am so grateful now, to be able to start my day with a few stitches. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteYour quilt is wonderful! The appliqué and the hand quilting. Great way to unwind.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn, I just discovered applique a couple of years ago. There is nothing better than hand quilting around the applique. A win win definitely! Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words.
DeleteOh that is beautiful! Can't see enough of that quilt :)
ReplyDeleteHilda
Thanks HIlda, I love the high contrast of a red and green quilt. I bought the fabrics for this quilt while we were on the road visiting family one Christmas. So this quilt will always remind me of that Christmas and the good times we had.
DeleteWhat a lovely quilt. I enjoy quilting in the morning too, but evening also works well for me if I don't have a good book to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose!
DeleteIt looks gorgeous in this photo : ) A work of art.....
ReplyDeleteDeb, thanks so much, it means a lot for you to take the time to leave a comment. I love stitching and find it relaxing, seems like hand quilting is makine a bit of a come back, I am glad of that!
