Happy thoughts!

I have really enjoyed linking up with Kathy on her Slow Stitching Sunday's. Her focus today was on being happy. So as I stitch today, I took her advice and thought about the things that make me happy.
I know that quilting would have to be near the top of the list, but what is it exactly about quilting that makes me happy.
One of the first things that attracted me to making quilts was color.  I find myself making quilts that reflect my love for gardening also.
I also love history and  since I have started Baltimore Garden, I have thought a lot about the original maker of this beautiful quilt. What inspired her to design and stitch this quilt. Did she too love to garden? Then of course, I thought about why those that do hand work get so much enjoyment from pulling a needle and thread thru fabric? Not sure I can even answer some of my questions, but I do know that I enjoy the time I spend at my craft enjoying color, and creativity. So now back to my stitching, where there are no worries and only happiness!

  1. A lovely post Carla. I know I would find it hard to pinpoint exactly what it is I love about stitching, sewing, quilting...just that it makes me happy - from lots of different angles, the challenge, the satisfaction, the colour, the relaxation... and more! Your vase is looking great :-)

    1. I like that phrase "in the moment" explains it very well. Thank you for your kind words.

  5. Hi Carla! Oh yes, it brings so much joy to just put a thread into the needle and start stitching! Can't answer that question either. It's so relaxing and makes me happy. Your garden quilting is so gorgeous, I love it! Coming over from Kathy's :) Hugs, Wendy

    1. Karen, Mine are a mix of fabrics that I purchased thru Thousands of Bolts on line. I used hues that I saw in a rose bush, some have a bit more yellow and some a bit more blue. I think you can't go wrong if you use a variety. I love the color matcher on that website, since I basically purchase fabrics by color.

    1. I have learned that even though those vases look pretty simple, they sure are a lot of work.
