Slow Stitching Continues

IMG_1092
Progress is being made! I almost completed the two long sides of the quilt, so hopefully I can get all the rest of the blocks finished in the next couple of weeks.  Then I will go back and start the background quilting. I think a double forty-five degree lines about an inch apart will suffice.  I guess I should also start thinking about what fabric I will use for the binding!

  2. Wow! A beauty for sure. When I was first learning to quilt, quilters often spaced pieced or applique blocks with plain blocks between for some beautiful quilting. Not so much any more.

    1. I really like the balance of quilting with piecing, something that is hard to achieve when every block is pieced.

  3. Amazing quilting. It must be hard to be so patient when you are SO close to being done. This one will be a quilt to treasure for sure.

    1. Yes, I find myself picking it up and working on it more often, however sometimes when I get very close to finishing I find myself not wanting to put in the final stitches. It's almost like saying good bye to an old friend.

  4. Looking beautiful - nice choice of quilting design. Some straight lines should complement very well. Happy stitching :) Every Stitch

    1. Thank you, When I came across the design in an old quilting magazine I knew it was the one. I can't wait to see how the background will tie it all together

    1. I am surprised how quickly I can get a quilt done just by working on it every weekend. They are great to cuddle under during the winter months.

  7. That is a beautiful quilt and I just love your hand quilting. Good idea on the straight lines to finish it off.

    1. Thanks for your input Deb. I still struggle with the quilting design and how much quilting to add. Most of the time more is better.

    1. Thanks Kathy! I had a run in with some poison ivy and it has put a kabosh to my hand quilting. Improving every day, but am itching to get back to my stitching!

  10. This seems like a very balanced quilt. Hard straight fabric lines (masculine) and curvy stitching (feminine). Very beautiful.

    1. You could be a quilter Amy, great sense for design that would notice that. The combo always balances and makes your eye moving around the quilt. Color often does this in scrap quilts and that is why people like them especially if they have pops of color that make it sparkle here or there.
