Progress is being made! I almost completed the two long sides of the quilt, so hopefully I can get all the rest of the blocks finished in the next couple of weeks. Then I will go back and start the background quilting. I think a double forty-five degree lines about an inch apart will suffice. I guess I should also start thinking about what fabric I will use for the binding!
It looks amazing Carla! I'm intrigued to see what you mean about quilting lines. Thanks for linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching!
ReplyDeleteWow! A beauty for sure. When I was first learning to quilt, quilters often spaced pieced or applique blocks with plain blocks between for some beautiful quilting. Not so much any more.
ReplyDeleteI really like the balance of quilting with piecing, something that is hard to achieve when every block is pieced.
DeleteAmazing quilting. It must be hard to be so patient when you are SO close to being done. This one will be a quilt to treasure for sure.
ReplyDeleteYes, I find myself picking it up and working on it more often, however sometimes when I get very close to finishing I find myself not wanting to put in the final stitches. It's almost like saying good bye to an old friend.
DeleteLooking beautiful - nice choice of quilting design. Some straight lines should complement very well. Happy stitching :) Every Stitch
ReplyDeleteThank you, When I came across the design in an old quilting magazine I knew it was the one. I can't wait to see how the background will tie it all together
DeleteBeautiful! The setting triangles frame it nicely.
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite part of the quilt!
DeleteWonderful work, I would be happy to be able to work on a large size quilt like that!
ReplyDeleteI am surprised how quickly I can get a quilt done just by working on it every weekend. They are great to cuddle under during the winter months.
DeleteThat is a beautiful quilt and I just love your hand quilting. Good idea on the straight lines to finish it off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input Deb. I still struggle with the quilting design and how much quilting to add. Most of the time more is better.
Deletethe quilting is amazing, just beautiful
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your progress on this quilt, its surely going to be an heirloom

Thanks Kathy! I had a run in with some poison ivy and it has put a kabosh to my hand quilting. Improving every day, but am itching to get back to my stitching!
DeleteSo beautiful! When I see this, I just want to run my hands over that quilting! You are so close to finishing.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a very balanced quilt. Hard straight fabric lines (masculine) and curvy stitching (feminine). Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou could be a quilter Amy, great sense for design that would notice that. The combo always balances and makes your eye moving around the quilt. Color often does this in scrap quilts and that is why people like them especially if they have pops of color that make it sparkle here or there.
DeleteWhat an amazing quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words and for visiting my blog.
