Slow Stitching Hexies!

Christmas has come and gone and we sent the last of our Christmas visitors on their way this morning.  I can't believe that I have not done any stitching for the past few days.  I did get three hexagon flowers assembled before my sister and brother in law arrived on Christmas.

So today, I will spend the afternoon assembling a few more hexagon flowers. Hexies are such a great project to fill in those times  I am in between projects.  It is nice to have company, but I am looking forward to sitting down this afternoon and enjoying some stitching before we I have to face the routines the rest of the week will bring. I will be linking up with Kathy to see what others are slow stitching today!

    1. Looking forward to your new crazy quilt for 2014. I may try a block later this year, just to see how I like the process! You keep inspiring me!

  2. Every time I see your hexies it reminds me that I want to get a post up about my grandmother's flower garden quilt ( no I did not make it myself but it is a vintage treasure :)

    1. Deb, I would love to see your grandmother's flower garden. They are such great way to use up scraps.

  3. Your little hexies are so cute! Isn't it nice to sit and relax after company is gone? Ours is still coming - one daughter with her 2-year-old son, and then another daughter with her 16-year-old. Their visits will overlap by a day or so, so we will have a full house later this week. I love having them around, but I'm not ashamed to say that I love it when they leave too :*)

    1. Yeah that it is how I feel also! Nice to see everyone, but it is nice to get back to normal. The hexies are the perfect little project to get me back stitching!

  4. Seeing your hexes makes me think, too, that I need to photograph my grandmother’s flower garden quilt top that I am stumped on how to finish-it’s must be 100 years old. The old timey fabrics are all so pretty. Love your hexes and it is going to be a treat when you have them all put together for your quilt. Please keep us posted with photos of your progress. Happy New Year. genie

    1. Thanks Kathi, I hope that I can keep up the pace of three or four flowers per week till i have enough. Then there will be a lot of black to connect them, all of that will take some time.

    1. They are a hoot! A bit like doing a mystery quilt as I don't know where this is going but I am looking forward to laying them out and deciding on the layout once I get enough made to go around the medallion block. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Cute hexies that remind me of grandma.

I'm glad my company is gone - they tire me out since I'm kind of a loner person- but not glad I will be back at work tomorrow!

  8. The hexagons look great. It has been fun entertaining here too - and I miss them all when they are gone. So it is nice to have quilting to fall back into :)

    1. I sure have enjoyed it, Kathy! It is a great motivator to think about having something to share. I am joining RSC2014 also, hoping it will be a great way to get my pickle dish blocks made over the next year. Love it when stash and scraps turn into a finished quilt.

    1. The first time I tried them I made a little project and wasn't too enthused. But, this time I am really enjoying them, so addictive!

  11. It's always nice to have company, but it's also nice to get back into our normal routines, especially when that includes time with needle and thread. We will be on the road tomorrow to go visit my dad ... perfect opportunity to get a little work done on my Texas Star piecing. ;-)
