I started quilting my "Over the River" Quilt in hopes that it will be ready to display by Christmas. I decided to use Baptist fans. A cardboard template and some washable crayons and I am on my way.
thanks for visiting my blog oh I love baptist fan quilting, what fun making your own template, good for you. enjoy the hand quilting , nothing better. kathie
I've seen Baptist fan templates like that but never heard of using washable crayons for marking. They look like they show up well. Can you tell me more about your experience in using them? It really comes all the way out?
I am quilting some fans right now myself and I have a similar template I made. So much easier to mark. Mine is made using vinyl template sheets that have the graph marked on them. I cut mine long and skinny like a ruler.

Very resourceful making your own template! Very nice job on the handquilting. I love to do handwork, too :)
