I have never a swagged border and this quilt has two with flowers in between so it will be a while. I usually don't applique much in the winter but I am excited about doing appliqued borders something I haven't done since my Hawaiian quilt.Carla A Few Of My Favorite Thingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14782840958923418159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3551007238143198780.post-10303344814928439582014-09-08T11:42:07.903-05:002014-09-08T11:42:07.903-05:00Thanks Ellen! I love all your tips and want to thank you for sharing. I took a great pic one day when I walked into my sewing room and I had a quilt over my sewing table because I was going to sew on the binding and the light must have been just right. I do seem to have better luck early in the morning, I guess that is like you said the light is more at an angle. I will keep all of these in mind, thanks so much!Carla A Few Of My Favorite Thingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14782840958923418159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3551007238143198780.post-27211558568884017952014-09-08T09:29:18.591-05:002014-09-08T09:29:18.591-05:00I think you can see the dimension great, sometimes...I think you can see the dimension great, sometimes I try to hold my camera kind of sideways to the block - can't explain properly - but the way you did it shows up fine on the last photo. When I want my quilting or dimensional appliqué to shine I will photograph with side lighting. The methods that work for me are using the early morning or late day sun outside and at an angle to your subject... Or in the house with horizontal blinds that reflect the light downward on your subject.... Or lay the piece on a table or floor and put a light low and to its side. I use a lamp and tilt it. It takes a little fussing but it is so worth it. Congratulations again on such a lovely block.
